6 Interesting Facts About The Scott Thomas Beauchamp Controversy

I have refrained from commenting on the entire "Scott Thomas"/Beauchamp/New Republic brouhaha up till now, but now that we know some actual facts about the situation I feel free to ponder in public some of the more interesting facets of what I like to call Winter Soldier Pt. Deux.

1) Scott Thomas aka Scott Beauchamp has been revealed as the husband(or at least fiance) of a New Republic staffer Elspeth Reeve. Which makes one wonder, are Liberals so hard up for supporters that force to rely on family connections. Or maybe Beauchamp was just someone walking by a desk.

2) Beauchamp admits that one of the reasons he joined the Army was to give credibility to his writing career.
Well it worked for Dashiel Hammett.

3) Franklin Foer, editor of The New Republic accuses The Weekly Standard of pressing "an ideological agenda" in their reporting on this controversy.
Imagine that. A magazine with "an ideological agenda."

4) Scott Thomas/Beauchamp has created an interesting little catch-22 for himself. He is either the total jerk who would ridicule a battle scarred female soldier....or he's a liar.

5) As per Point 5 how does the staff of the New Republic feel about the fact that fellow staff member Elspeth Reeve's husband thinks making fun of facially disfigured women is.....hilarious.

6) The New Republic has apparently fired one of its employees for cooperating with the investigation into Beauchamp. You see....leakers in the Army. OK.
Leakers at The New Republic. Bad
