Conjectures Over "Ismail Ax"

Ismail Ax ??

Could that have been an online gaming name he used ?

I understand that online games over high speed are huge among young people in South Korea.

How often did he return there?

Is that where he picked up his shooting "skill" ?

I'm making the rounds with my find, since most seem to be missing this and I don't particularly feel like jumping on the "it's obviously a reference to Islam" bandwagon:

Google Image searches turn up more than current blogs for "Ismail Ax"...

M. E. H. Ismail, The zeros of basic Bessel functions, the functions $J_{\nu +ax}\left( x\right) $ and the associated orthogonal polynomials, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 86 (1982), 1-19. MR 83c:33010

Still mysterious, but maybe he was just writing cheat notes on his arm? Not everything -has- to have some sort of grotesque meaning.

Though if any of this has to do with him being a gamer, I'm going to be disappointed.

I would imagine thats where he learned to shoot... most the time people learn how to shoot from video games you know... and people learn to fly from microsoft flight sim, people learn to paint in MSPaint.. people learn to write with Word. the guy was a freakin idiot, how bout putting the blame on him and not videogames or guns, or his ex, or whoever else.. it was his fault, he made that choice, no one, or nothing elses

I'm sorry, but if you know how to move some analog sticks around on a controller then that doesn't automatically give you the capabilities to actually shoot and kill someone.

Aiming with an actual GUN and aiming with some ANALOG sticks are completely different.

Leave gaming out of this. That kid was seriously disturbed.

I can tell you right now that I am a lousy shot - I am a gamer, a female gamer at that, and I can't shoot shit. But give me a controller...and you better run.
